Inside Polly’s Bower

Polly’s Bower is a romantic retreat that has been carefully converted from a 300-year-old apple-crushing barn into a beautiful, contemporary open-plan hideaway for two.  Much of its original charm has been retained with old peg beams and trusses that have been sympathetically restored and there are beautiful oak floors throughout.  Both antique and contemporary furniture make this cottage a really fabulous place to stay.  Upstairs is a large open-plan bedroom with a super-king Vi-Spring bed, a settee with colourful cushions and throws, a round pedestal table and a full length mirror.  A stable door leads down steps outside to the gardens outside.  The bathroom has a large double-ended freestanding bath (wonderful for a long hot soak!) and a separate power shower which is tiled in beautiful soft turquoise glass.   An oak staircase leads down from the bedroom to the lovely sitting room below, with its cosy log-burner, beautifully hand-made fitted kitchen and inglenook dining area (where the apple press once stood).  Electric wall heaters upstairs and downstairs provide additional warmth.

Polly’s Bower was once an apple-crushing barn and has lovely features including oak peg beams, a mix of contemporary and antique furniture, original artwork and a wood burner, making it comfortable and unique.  The French windows that lead out onto a patio from the sitting room allow you the chance to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the stunning views across the valley.
The cottage is equipped with a CD player, radio, iPod dock, flat screen television with DVD and a hairdryer in the bedroom.  There are board games and books for lazy days in.

The Cottage Kitchen

Polly’s Bower has a beautiful hand-made kitchen with wooden surfaces and is fully equipped with everything you would expect in a modern kitchen.  There is a dishwasher, oven, microwave, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, blender and a wide range of kitchen equipment and cookery books.  There are plenty of pots, pans, serving dishes and casseroles.

Outside Polly’s Bower

Outside Polly’s Bower you’ll find a well-lit terrace, a barbecue area, a round wooden table and garden furniture.  The views are terrific and uninterrupted over Lantallack’s 40 beautiful acres of mature gardens, woodland, paddocks and fields – all waiting to be explored.

Swimming Pool

Just a stroll away across the lawns and hidden within its own walled garden, is Lantallack’s glorious outdoor heated swimming pool (as it is shared only with Pippin Cottage you rarely bump into anyone). Its wonderful terrace has a Mediterranean feel, with exotic aloes, camellias, jasmine, honeysuckle, hydrangeas, sweet peas and amazing views.  There are several loungers, tables and chairs in which to relax and soak up this sheltered and beautiful area.

Laundry facilities

A short stroll across the garden is the laundry with an 8kg washing machine, a tumble dryer and a freezer if you need extra space for frozen food.
