Pippin Cottage was once the coach house to Lantallack and has lovely features including oak beams, a mix of contemporary and antique furniture, original artwork and a cosy wood burner, making it comfortable and unique. The French windows lead out onto a patio from the sitting room and allow you the chance to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the stunning views across the valley.
Both of the upstairs bedrooms in Pippin Cottage can be arranged to suit you – either as super king-sized or twin rooms. The cottage has a large shower room upstairs, and a bathroom with shower downstairs.
Having a downstairs bedroom and bathroom is great for family groups who have one member who doesn’t do stairs. We can offer hypoallergenic bedding if required. Just let us know on booking.
The cottage is equipped with a CD player, radio, iPod dock, flat screen television with DVD and hairdryers in the bedrooms. There are board games and books for lazy days in.
Additional heating for Pippin Cottage is provided by electric wall heaters and storage heaters.
The Cottage Kitchen
Pippin Cottage has a beautifully hand-made bespoke kitchen and is fully equipped with everything you would expect in a modern kitchen. There is a dishwasher, oven, microwave, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, blender and a wide range of kitchen equipment and cookery books. There are plenty of pots, pans, serving dishes and casseroles.
Outside Pippin Cottage
Outside Pippin Cottage you’ll find a private garden, a well-lit terrace, built-in barbecue area, hardwood furniture and a rotary washing line. The views are terrific and uninterrupted over Lantallack’s 40 beautiful acres of mature gardens, woodland, paddocks and fields – all waiting to be explored.
Just a stroll away across the garden, and hidden within its own walled garden, is Lantallack’s glorious outdoor heated swimming pool (shared only with one other couple from Polly’s Bower) and its wonderful terrace which has a Mediterranean feel, with exotic aloes, camellias, jasmine, honeysuckle, hydrangeas, sweet peas and amazing views. There are several loungers, tables and chairs in which to relax and soak up this sheltered and beautiful area. Children under 14 must be accompanied by adults at all times near the pool.
A short stroll across the garden is the laundry with a 8kg washing machine, a tumble dryer and a freezer if you need extra space for frozen food.
Babies and children
Pippin Cottage is a baby friendly luxury holiday cottage in Cornwall. We have the usual cot and high chair which is available free of charge along with bottom sheet and duvet. Just let us know when you book what you need, and it will be ready in the cottage for you when you arrive. Babysitting can also be arranged on request if sufficient notice is given.
There is a table-tennis table for use in the bank barn on the other side of the yard, with a dart board and darts available for adults and supervised children.
The beds all have goose down duvets and feather and down pillows. However, we stock a range of hypoallergenic duvets and pillows for use by any guests who prefer a feather-free environment. Just ask when you book, and we’ll make sure these are in the cottage for you.
We offer our guests complimentary luxury White Company toiletries in the bathrooms and lovely olive soaps from Damana’s Fire and Sun range.
Pippin Cottage is self-catering, but we do provide you with a few necessities to make life easier and the car lighter, and to enable you to get out of the car and not have to unpack straight away. The most important thing is a welcome hamper of local goodies (tea/coffee, milk, butter, eggs, cereal, bread, yoghurt, jam and a bottle of Lantallack’s own apple juice) greets you on arrival, so all you have to do is turn the kettle on!
